Unlike their previous songs, Time Machine is finally a ballad song that brought out the more sentimental side of the group. Aside from its wonderful melody,the song boast of a very nostalgic and heartbreaking lyrics, that definitely appealed to a lot of us hopeless romantics….
This in particular, would be my favorite part of the song:
“If I’m able to meet you passing through time and space
Even if it’s heading to
The same conclusion, I’m sure
There won’t be any regrets remaining”
And what’s more special about this song is that, Time Machine is the first story mv/pv that the girls actually released (not including Oppa Nappa sung by Jessica, Tiffany and Seohyun). Prior to its release, specifically a day before that, the agency released a longer mv teaser that threw everyone abuzz. And admittedly, I couldn’t stay put myself. I really just have to see it IMMEDIATELY!
It’s hard to imagine that these 9 girls could be even more beautiful. And it’s not just the SONE in my that is saying this, they really are!
However, to deal more deeply into the “story mv” itself, it wasn’t like anybody have expected. None of them really connected with each other but the director was at least able to portray each of the members own struggle. Each of them had a story to tell and it’s really up to the viewers to portray what it is. How each of the members expressed their emotions was outstanding though.
And if there is one thing recurring throughout the whole music video, it would be the element of time. It played a major role in building up the mood. Regret and conflict was certainly the focus of this mv. It’s just a bit regretful that a 4 minute video is really just not enough to tell a definitive story for a 9 member group yet, I am completely satisfied on how it turned out to be.
Anyway, another mv interpretation I really enjoyed was written by ridzSoshi29:
~ The story start with Yoona (the bride) ran away from the wedding, Tiffany (childhood friend) visiting the place that bring her the memory with (maybe with Yoona or the groom). Taeyeon and Hyoyeon (Yoona close friend or sibilings) hesitate to go to Yoona wedding for some reason and Seohyun (the ex-girlfriend) looking at the picture or reading a letter from her loves one (maybe remind her to the groom whom about to married Yoona). ~
~Sunny waiting in the rain for Jessica to pick her up and go together to yuri birthday party. Yuri waited for Sooyoung to call her(maybe they had fight before). Jessica(felt guilty because she was late) get out from the car after saw Sunny waiting in the heavy rain. Sooyoung received a call from unknown (maybe from Yuri) and starting the conversation.~
